2013 Surf Club Committee

'12 & '13 Vice Chair Ricki Allardice
So it’s that time of the year again and the old committee has stepped down. They have been replaced (only some cases) by the next batch, who are all rearing for action and looking to take the club from strength to strength in 2013.

New Chair: Henrique Cilliers
Replacing Peter Thorpe as chairman is Henrique Cilliers, who proved invaluable in 2012 as the Web & Multimedia guru. H-bomb took the club’s online profile to new heights and will be looking to maintain that momentum as chairman. Henrique’s right hand-man will be Ricki Allardice, who served ably as Peter’s vice-chair and given that he’ll be staying on at 33 Cluver, Ricki’s reinclusion in the committee guarantees the continued use of the digs for Surf Club jols.

Kurt Dreyer is joined by Heinrich van Rooyen, as the PR managers for surfing and body boarding respectively, while Ean Barnard will be organising the busses and ensuring the general happiness of the foreign contingent every Tuesday and Thursday. Taking over from Henrique as Web & Multimedia manager and carrying on the tradition of Strand surfers in the Maties Surf Club committee is Kyle Cabano.

The position of club secretary will be filled by Mellissa Theron who takes over from the long serving Nadia Barnard. Nadia is possibly the longest serving committee member in the history of the club having held the post for 4 years.

Here’s a breakdown of the 2013 committee and their roles:
Chairman: Henrique Cilliers
Vice Chair: Ricki Allardice
Secretary: Mellissa Theron
PR Surfing: Kurt Dreyer
PR Bodyboarding: Heinrich van Rooyen
Bus Coordinator: Ean Barnard
Web & Multimedia: Kyle Cabano

You can still get hold of the club through the usual channels either via the Facebook fan or members pages, or by email @ surf@sun.ac.za

Good luck to the new committee for 2013, as an ex-chairman - trust me - you are going to need it.
