The Surf Girl Hand Book Review

While shopping for a surfing related gift for a mate of mine a while ago, my girlfriend came across, and purchased, a great book called The Surf Girl Hand Book, which claims to be “the essential guide for surfing chicks everywhere”. Now I’m far too macho to have read it, but from a brief perusal I’d definitely recommend it to any member of the fairer sex involved or looking to get into the sport.

The Surf Girl Hand Book was put together by the folks of the U.K. based surf magazine; SurfGirl in association with Roxy and features a glowing forward by Ausie World Tour Campaigner, Sally Fitzgibons. But what impressed me is the fantastic print quality and the solid advice for nearly everything a young lass could encounter as a surfer. From beginner tips and choosing the right gear, to travel advices and pointers on how to boost, the book covers pretty much every imaginable eventuality. It even boasts chapters on nutrition and exercise, which really taps into the fact that surfing is more a lifestyle than a sport. [There’s also a section explaining swell forecast models so if you’re still unsure you can now get your chick to explain it to you.]

If you keen on a copy, you can order one from Amazon.com or Kalahari.com. Otherwise try hunting around a decent bookshop in the sport’s section.
